The topic is “Angels in Florida: Investment Trends in South Florida's Rising Verticals”. The panel will also speak on the emerging Florida entrepreneurial ecosystem and angel investing strategies (from thesis, community building, to deal structuring). The hour-long live panel is moderated by Assure CEO, Jeremy Neilson.

Jeremy Neilson, an Inc. 5000 entrepreneur, is a founder and a co-CEO of Assure. Prior to Assure, Mr. Neilson launched and managed Utah’s $300M private equity program, the Utah Fund of Funds, which invested in 28 funds and across most of the private equity spectrum. Before the Utah Fund of Funds, Jeremy was an associate with the University Venture Fund where he spent time working closely with local and national venture capitalists on company due diligence. Jeremy has served as a venture capital fund advisory board member and investment committee member for various foundations.

Prior to joining Miami Angels, Rebecca managed global campus operations for General Assembly in New York City, the first accelerated learning provider, and the "Top Most Innovative Company in Education" per Fast Company. General Assembly had a successful exit in 2018. Prior to that, Rebecca worked at Macy's in their Executive Development Program.Rebecca is a Miami native and passionate about investing into markets and teams that are often overlooked in traditional venture capital. She serves on the board of the Florida Venture Forum and is a Class XI member of Miami Fellows.

Kevin has been through 2 IPOs, once as Founder. Kevin started his career with a technology startup in Boston that went public. Since then he has always had a passion for compelling innovative businesses. His education pedigree includes an MBA from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania along with Masters and Bachelors degrees in engineering from Cornell University.

Ron Tarro is a senior executive, investor, and growth advisor for emerging information technology and services companies. Ron is the former CEO of a hospitality telecommunications cloud-based software and management services company. He led the company from its early stages, to its expansion across the global hospitality industry, to its acquisition by publicly held Broadsoft (now part of Cisco) where Ron served transitionally as a vice president. Today, Ron works with travel and hospitality technology founders and investors. He’s well known for his incubator and accelerator contributions. Ron invests, heads deal flow screening, and serves on the board of directors and the investment committee for Florida’s New World Angels syndicate.
